Using a commercial grade douglas fir, a 2 x 4 can safely carry 80 lbs. for decking.
A 2 x 6 can carry 200 lbs. with a dynamic load of 5 G’s.
For shoring applications a 2 x 4 will hold 100 lbs.
A 2 x 6 will hold 1,500 lbs. with a dynamic load of 2 G’s.
